Description

MATERIAL:

Dispersion of polyethylene oxide into water for base polymer production of hydrogel for transdermal drug delivery.

PROBLEM:

Batch mixing equipment leaves "fish-eyes" of 1/8" or larger which must be separated from the gel formulations.  Slow speed agitator mixers require 8-10 hours of combining this polymer with water at 10% by weight.

RESULT:

Continuous dispersion of this granular polymer into water requires only one hour for complete hydration.  Equipment replaced antiquated "waterfall" device for slowly sprinkling polymer during filling of final mixing vessel.

AB MIXER:

Model D-6000 Dispershear

BENEFITS Hydrogel quality at optimal level requiring no loss of dry polymer during mixing.  No over shearing of polymer or aeration.
